For Julia Kleinert and her daughter Emma, life without Honey the Rabbit is unimaginable. “Honey is my daughter’s first pet. Especially during the Corona period, love and warmth for animals filled in the gaps created by the lack of social contacts,” says Kleinert. When she picked up the rabbit lady seven months ago, her daughter wept with joy.

When she and her child scratched Honey, the pet fell asleep and immediately began to snore. When the family is watching TV, Honey lies on the armrest and watches what is happening. When Honey runs and jumps around the apartment, it doesn’t get so quiet. “For us, life with a pet is simply beautiful, diverse and important,” says Julia Kleinert from MAZ.
Selina Blankenhorn, 21, lives happily with her hamster Khamsin. The nine-month-old animal likes to dig and climb on the sofa. Khamsin stands on two legs and begs for seeds every evening when her master comes home. “When my little Khamsin stands in front of me with her chubby cheeks, my feelings melt. I appreciate that she is so trusting and loving,” says Blankenhorn.

Sarah Skrodsky shows her dog to Gene. She is the best friend of her five children and loves to go out with her family. “Whenever I pick up my two-year-old daughter from kindergarten, the first thing she asks is Gina, it’s heartbreaking. It’s especially cool when she does a handstand while walking,” says the 31-year-old woman. Gina loves to cuddle and is always happy when Sarah Skrodsky comes home.

Cute cats from Hohenstuken
Nancy Jacob and her cat Minka are also crazy about each other. The twelve-year-old animal loves to play with balls, mice, balls of wool and especially likes to gnaw on plants when the owner is not looking. “I have to laugh every day when she sits behind me or my husband and says loudly because she wants her cat grass,” says the Brandenburg native from Hohenstuken. For her, Minka is a princess who enriches the life of the family.
Competition goes beyond Brandenburg an der Havel
Although Sarah Findor lives in Königs Wusterhausen, she saw photos of other animals on Facebook and then introduced her two cats. 14-year-old Bella and six-year-old Sammy are a team, even though Bella is old and Sammy only has three legs.
She remembers looking for cats and not finding them at first. But then they sat in the rabbit cage and played with the rabbits. “Living with pets is much nicer because I can always have fun, hugs and laughs,” Findor says.
